When an animal is wounded beyond repair, we often say it's kind to put them down quickly to reduce their pain.
But what about humans? Most people have connections and relationships, so their death has a larger impact on others. Does this mean we have the right to decide that someone should endure pain for the sake of others? Because if you just tried a little bit harder, there is hope. Right?
Right?
I’m still thinking about that.
It reminds me of the ending of the movie Me Before You. Even though William, the main character, found love and a deep connection with Louisa Clark, he still decided to end his life. His illness prevented him from doing almost everything, making his life feel less meaningful despite his connections. This decision left Clark and his parents heartbroken. But I think it bring peace for William.
Now, imagine someone without such connections, without a family to love them, and without anything they find meaningful in their life. At that point, asking them to continue surviving might seem even more cruel.
So, who are we, to say who should live or die. It's should come down to that person decision.
